Richard Bass

Richard Bass, founding trombonist of the Sonoran Brass Quintet, recently fulfilled a one-year appointment as second trombone with The Phoenix Symphony. He has also held the positions of second/bass trombone of the Bear Valley Festival Orchestra in California, bass trombone of the West Valley Symphony in Sun City, and principal trombone of the American Institute of Musical Studies Festival Orchestra in Graz, Austria. Richard has also performed with the Tucson Symphony, Arizona Opera, and Monterrey Symphony in Mexico, as well as innumerable orchestras and chamber ensembles throughout Arizona.

Mr. Bass can be heard on recordings for Summit Records, D'Note Classics, and Con Brio Recordings, and has been selected to perform for International Brassfest workshops, the International Viola Congress, and other festivals and honors recitals throughout the southwest. In addition to his performance endeavors, he has also served as Director of Bands for Tesseract School in Paradise Valley, Low Brass Specialist for the Paradise Valley Summer Music Camp, and directs a teaching studio for brass private instruction.

An Arizona native, Richard Bass received his Bachelor's Degree from Arizona State University with emphasis in trombone performance and music education.
